The Goffstown Fish & Game Assoc. was founded and incorporated in 1948 by a group of concerned Sportsmen from the Goffstown area. The purpose of the Association, as stated in the original Constitution of the club was, “To Help Better the Hunting and Fishing in the State of New Hampshire and to Create a more Friendly Feeling among Farmers and Sportsmen”. In recent years, the purpose has broadened to help non-sportsmen to understand what is meant by Game Management, to speak out for sound hunting and fishing regulations, and to help lead the way in defense of our Constitutional Right to Keep and Bear Arms.
As hunters and fishermen, we are constantly concerned about the quantity and quality of all the wildlife in our state. We believe that the loss of good wildlife habitat, due to ever-decreasing mature forests and increasing urbanization, is the single most important reason for the dwindling game populations in N.H. We support programs to reduce both, and feel that Sportsmen’s monies should be spent on establishing or re-establishing game species native to this state. We believe hunting is a good and effective tool in game management, and affords recreation and fulfillment not possible in other leisure activities. We feel clean water is essential, not just for good fishing, but for the survival of mankind in general.
There is already so much that the Goffstown Fish & Game Association has to offer, but we are always looking to the future and planning improvements to our current facilities and the addition of new facilities, all of which offer our members a place to come relax, target shoot, picnic, bring their family and just enjoy the freedom of the outdoors with the friendship of other like-minded sportsmen. It is hoped that it will remain a place for people of all ages to learn safe gun handling, hunting techniques, conservation, love of the outdoors, character, and comradeship, all with a touch of Patriotism. A place to share and learn about experiences in the great outdoors.
From time to time the Association concerns itself with various items concerning not only sportsmen, but with the community in general. It is not actively engaged in any political activities; however, it has endorsed individual candidates from time to time on a non-partisan basis.
**IMPORTANT** Please note that the Goffstown Fish & Game Association ranges are for MEMBERS AND THEIR GUESTS ONLY and are NOT open to the public except for select shoots that are held throughout the year (which will be advertised as "open to the public"). The ranges are patrolled by the Weare Police Dept and any shooters will be asked to show their membership cards (which are required to be prominently displayed whenever you are using the ranges). Members are allowed to bring up to 3 guests and MUST accompany their guests on the ranges. We appreciate your adherence to these policies and thank you for your cooperation.
